ARTIST STATEMENT
"I would like to share a little of my philosophy with you:
To me, painting, and certainly art in general, is a window onto the invisible which includes emotions and feelings, atmospheres, and the spiritual. There is so much more than what we see with our human eyes or hear with our human ears. There is also everything we perceive, what we feel, and their sources, good or bad. There is the infinitely small and the infinitely large, and there is the supernatural in its different dimensions.
The invisible in the History of Man is what I am the most drawn to. It is what I want to discover, capture, and make visible on my canvases. It is a conversation, a breath between the Creator – the Father whose name is “I am”, myself, and the people who observe my art works. My goal, when I paint, is to encourage people by showing them that there is within them, a resplendent and unique facet from their Creator, even when it’s hidden. I would like to shed light on the fact that there is, for their existence on Earth, a powerful reason, full of love. My desire is to see people receive this revelation with clarity, a revelation which in turn arouses joy, peace, and above all hope! I represent this hope by the light that emanates from each of my paintings. Light comes from the Creator, and He gives it to anyone who asks for it. Then, it is the revelation which makes it spring forth from the invisible.
The principal theme for my art is the Human being, its human and divine identity, and its source. But, deeply curious, I am also interested in Wisdom, in the mysteries of creation, and in what it all means for each person, on a daily basis, in this magnificent but broken world. I combine these subjects with the causes to which I am most sensitive, namely, societal issues, themes of family and childhood, the fundamental values and principles of Life, and the season in which the world currently finds itself with its troubles, its needs and its sighs. Nature, motion, and dance inspire me a lot as well.
To convey my messages and share my perceptions, I combine the substance and the form of my artworks. I create symbolist and surrealist images, whether it is a realist, semi-realist or abstract series. I use mediums such as acrylic or oil paint for color and the representation of light. But I also use a mix of textures, in particular sand mortar, to recall soil, humus, the very matter from which Humankind is drawn. I paint on large formats in order to create that sense of deep immersion and wonder. My wish is to awaken Life – or at least a thirst for it – in each of us.
I invite you on a journey through these reflections, these pictured conversations, and the discovery of these revelations, granted by grace by our Creator Daddy, for His great pleasure and for our happiness. Enjoy your journey!”
